Check if you're pretty =P

Ladies always want themselves to look pretty. And every lady believes that she is pretty (unless that lady has very low self esteem). Today I saw a news article about scientists found a new golden ratio for female facial beauty.

It's:

36% = distance between mid iris of the eyes and mid of the mouth/face length x 100 [Vertical]

46% = distance between iris of the eyes/face width x 100 [horizontal]

So theoretically one who has these ratios would be a perfectly pretty chick. Hehe.. But don't be so sad first... According to the research, if one want to be closer to the perfect ratio, one can use different hairstyle to achieve it (e.g. using fringe to cover some part of the forehead). Jessica Alba, Liz Hurley and Shania Twain are found to have these golden ratios.

Jessica Alba

Liz Hurley

Shania Twain

Being one of the girl species who has too much self esteem on her own look. Keke dun puke la. I admit that I'm highly satisfied with my face sometimes. Oops.. I mean most of the time. Although sometimes I would think I look like a guy.

So, being one of those confident girls, I measured my face and calculated the ratios.

For the vertical ratio I measured from my hairline to my chin instead of from below my fringe though.

I found that my ratios are:

Vertical ratio = 34.39%
Horizontal ratio = 45.71%

Hey my horizontal ratio is not bad!

But the vertical is a bit off. It means my face is slightly longer or the distance between my eyes and the mouth is slightly shorter. I can't change the distance between the eyes and the mouth. So, I calculated backwards to see how long my face should be to get the 36% ratio. In the end I found that my hairline should be 1 cm lower.

But, when I cover that 1 cm length from my hairline with my hand my face didn't look better though. lol.. Maybe it's the distance between the eyes and the mouth then. Hmm.. So I can't change my hairstyle or remove the fringe to make myself look 'perfect' then.

Nah.. It's just 1.6% difference. Nevermind. I still look awesome. Kaka.. I told you I'm confident with my face. =P

Off for Penang

Tomorrow I'll be going to stay overnight at Cheng Yee's house so that Friday early morning we can depart to Kampar for breakfast, then Ipoh for lunch then finally Penang. =)

Actually nothing much to blog also. Hehe. But feel like putting up a new post coz I'll be away for few days until Monday. Hope this blog won't be too empty. =P

Anyhoos, first of all, happy birthday to my ex-roomie, Choo Peng, who had shared my joy my tears and lotz of our stressful lives back in uni time. Really miss you lo. You faster fly back Malaysia la =P Then we can go shopping... or just gossiping in Aud's room will be fun too. =P

For the Penang trip, my target is to eat the cendol at the small lorong somewhere at the town I guess. Then I want to eat char kuey teow and asam laksa. I don't like prawns. So prawn mee is not one of my target. According to my housemate's mum, "lo bak" is very famous in Penang. She told me go Penang must try their "lo bak".

After many direction and description of the places she went and how delicious was the lo bak, I asked her, "What's lo bak?" =.="

I haven't seen anything called lo bak before. It should look something like this:

(Not advertising for the coffee shop, this is the only nicely taken photo of lo bak I could find online)

Actually going to historical places should also be great but since I dun have a camera I can't take any photos of the places, so no point going there actually.

-

Watched this MV just now and found that Hebe is so adorable and pretty and sweet and cute and pretty. And did I just said adorable? lol. I sound like a lesbian.

Awww.. If only I can look like her. Ish.. What a big dream. lol.. Nevermind. I can start with that hairstyle first. lol.

Mumblings here and there

Just came back from Eason's concert. And lost my beloved orange water bottle. Sigh. I sort of abandoned it and I regretted it very much now, physically but not mentally. Duwan to explain more coz this will make me feel worse.

Eason's live voice was just like his voice in CD except sometimes when he danced he panted a lot when he sang. Other than that it was perfect. He was funny too. I think in the future he can become a stand-up comedian.

-

Suddenly this song came to my mind just now. So in Love.

It was my favourite song when I watched Love in Harvard. The song was well composed but the singer voice and English pronunciation are a bit sorry. But I still like this song. Coz it sounds very cheerful. Just like my another favourite Korean song "One Sweet Day" which is also my current ringtone (I had been using this ringtone since 4 years ago, on and off with Canon). Whenever I'm happy I'll think of these songs.

Eason is coming to town!

Eason Chan is coming to Sunway!

OMG OMG OMG!

I've been telling myself that I wanna listen him singing live if I have the chance to. The death of Michael Jackson gave me a lesson that "Don't hesitate if you really like the singer".

Eason's a great singer. I started to notice Eason Chan after I heard his 幸福摩天轮.

After that his 明年今日 attracted me. I was actually attracted by one of the sentence 人总需要勇敢生存 which I think it's very motivating.

Then one more song I really like is "Aren't you glad"! It's his first English song. It's written by a white man But too bad Malaysia cannot view the MV due to copyright restriction. =(

Some other songs which are nice are 兄妹, 浮夸, K歌之王, 不如这样, Shall We Talk, and his very new hits 七百年后.

Awww! I really wanna go to his concert coming up next month. =( But very kelian. Nobody is interested except the intern student, Ronald, in my lab. Sigh.. Maybe ask him whether I can tag along. Or maybe I just go there alone la since its just nearby (at Sunway surf beach).

RIP MJ

26th June 09 8am I was driving to work listening to radio station as usual. The DJ mentioned about a death of a great singer. I was thinking "Oh, so who's dead again this time?"

But when I heard the name Michael Jackson when the DJ finished his sentence, I felt as if I was frozen. My hand raised to cover my mouth. The first thing that came to my mind was that "Shit! I haven't watch his concert yet! =("

It was really shocking. But I have no idea why my tears came rolling in the eyes. His death is indeed shocking, but it's kinda weird I'm that emo over his death coz I'm not a great fan of him. I dun follow his scandal news and all. I think the emo feelings today is because his death brings back my childhood memories. When the radio stations started to play his songs they brought back my teenager memories dancing to the music in the living room with my bro and mum. And the memories of singing "Heal the world" in the choir competition in secondary school with my classmates.

RIP Michael Jackson. I will surely remember your song "Heal the world". Had been attracted to the lyrics since I was 13.

I find this MV explains the lyrics pretty well. Too bad the subtitle is in Chinese. It makes no big difference coz the video explains better than the words. =)

This weekend is going to be super tiring. I have to catch some sleep now. Ciao!

Oh MY GAWD! Jason Mraz is coming to KL!

Last month I've already known that Jason Mraz is coming to Malaysia in some time in March.

But, at that time I was thinking "Jason is from US. The concert ticket sure very expensive one. Sure more than RM100 one. Dun need to go la... Summore, I dun have anyone to go with. So, no need to go la.. "

Then when I heard the advertisement again on My FM about giving away tickets. I was like "Argh! I want the free tix! I dun mind going alone!"

Plus, his guitar skills is cool! Way beyond cool! The way he pluck and strum. Sometimes very lively and sometimes emotional. Awww. I wanna go see him play guitar!

Dun believe me? See it yourself on this video.

And then I waited till this week to listen to the radio again for the ad (I dun have radio at home. Hehe) the ad is no longer aired! Hmpph! How unfair...

Dunno still got tickets left or not? =( Who has extra tickets?

-------------------

Heard that this year's Earth Hour will be on 28th March 8.30pm for one hour.

Last year I did participated in Earth Hour 2008. And I'm definitely planning to participate this year too.

Even shopping malls turned off their lights?!! Wow.. I doubt Malaysia shopping mall would do that. lol.

Let's enjoy the tiny contribution to saving the earth during this hour! =)

Great voices

Just realized I haven't compile the singers I like in my blog.

My favourite voices are:
1. JJ (林俊杰)
2. Eason Chan (陈奕迅)
3. Stephanie Sun (孙燕姿)

I always think JJ has very nice voice. And he's a good composer too.

Have a look at JJ singing live here. I tried to look for short and nice clip so you all no need to wait until the middle only can listen to him sing.

Very very heavenly voice!

Another male Chinese singer I like is Eason Chan. But I can only find this prize giving award which has better microphone sound quality.

Then for female Chinese singer, I think Stephanie is brilliant!

(Can't find her live A cappella clips)

Hehe. I think not enough. I put one more concert live clip of her

Of updates, Connie Talbot and poll

Had this conversation with Get Pei today:

Get Pei: Do you know Connie Talbot?
Me: You mean Colbie Calliat?
Get Pei: No. Connie Talbot. She's only 6. And she's very good in singing. Go search her name in Youtube.

And then I went to check in Youtube.

I was amazed. Really amazed. Not only by her singing skills but also her courage to stand in front of hundreds to sing. And better still, she has the gut to sing in front of Simon. I don't. My voice sucks. lol.

Here's some of the clips of her singing. I only choose live performance because that will show her real ability.

The first clip I put is "Over the rainbow" she sang in Britains Got Talent finals. Her voice was a bit shaky. But I think it's because she's nervous in front of Simon. Because her voice in the second clip I put here was not shaky.

And the "I'll always love you" in the 3rd clip I put is of all the best I heard from her live performance. She sounds so unlike a 7 year-old girl!

If you're interested just take a look at these clips. She's amazing!

I had two job offers last week. One is Ministry of Health clinical research assistant position, another one is research associate in a commercial Biotech company.

I turned down the Ministry of Health job very politely. I even googled on "how to reject job offer" so that I won't sound too rude to the HR people. I rejected this nice job because I don't really like the job scope, having to run here and there from hospitals to hospitals and mostly dealing with paper works. This job prospect is good coz one will have the chance to work in MNC pharmaceutical company when one has experience in that field. Those in Biotech field can actually consider going into this field after graduate actually. They don't need an honours for the job. Just a degree will do.

Some might wonder why I rejected such a nice job. It's because I still prefer lab works. That's why I choose the lab work job instead.

After accepted the job offer I suddenly got 2 more calls for interviews and one more informal suggestion for application in the company. One of the calls was from NUS Singapore. I really like the research project. I really put my heart into writing the research interest for the job application. Read a lot of journals in order to write the research interest. This is my first masterpiece which I'm very proud of after my assignments and reports back in Monash time.

But I'll still stick to the job offer I accepted la due to many reasons which I can't even explain to myself. lol. Maybe because there are many reasons that starting to root me to Malaysia, more specifically Selangor.

I think the reasons are mainly
(1) Heng coming back KL soon for holiday
(2) My 3 kids (one new kid joined the rest last week) who are going to sit for SPM this year
(3) My promise to the employer and my boss. I'm not going to break promise. I don't break promises.
(4) The possibility of teaching swimming to earn extra cash after I get my Bronze Medallion cert
(5) Hill climbings (Singapore got hills to climb? Hmm... )
(6) I'm curious about how an industrial laboratory works.

So, yeah. Will wrap up the project that I'm having now and start a new job soon. =) Can't wait to see how an industrial lab works. =D

I had just put up a poll from Nuffnang. Hehe. Just for fun so that I can know more about my readers and so that I know how my blog is doing.

I've notice this poll thing since it first started but I dunno what questions I should put in my poll. So I didn't start a poll. I got the idea for the poll questions from Nicole's and Ice Angel's blogs. Hehe. So copy here and there from theirs.

So please answer the poll yea. Thanks =)

In love with Jason Mraz..

I'm in love with Jason Mraz!

The one who sings I'm yours. I have the MV in my previous post. All his songs are played with acoustic guitar! I had the love for acoustic guitar music for very long last time since I was 16. Then it faded because I learned for a while and then I was lazy to practice. =P But now listening back acoustic guitar makes the interest flames back. lol. I'll korek back those acoustic guitar music from my PC one day.

Ok. Back to the songs by Jason Mraz. The songs! My goodness they are so nicely composed. And the songs are mostly soothing and relaxing. I really like the style.

This is the Jason Mraz I'm talking about. This song is called Make it mine.

This song is called "Life is Wonderful"

See his guitar skills. Listen to his voice! Like smooth-flowing river. His songs are nicely composed so that it's relaxing and soothing. My goodness. The songs really fit my taste la. lol.

Sigh. Too bad all his tours only in European countries. =(

Dr Mahathir's blog

I think everyone must have known that Dr Mahathir is starting to blog. I added the link to his blog in my left column already.

Here's a quote from CP which she thinks is interesting. Okla. I think it's pretty true also la.

Young bloggers become politicians; Old politicians become bloggers.

See. Over the pass few years when instant messaging and blogging are fast evolving, people has started to use this new method to convey their thoughts on politics.

Argh. Running out of time to discuss about this statement. Going to the log check soon. I leave it to you all to think yourselves la. hehe.

The humanity of dog and wolf =P

I just finish watching The Time Between Dog and Wolf.

This is a perfect drama! It perfectly sketches out the humanity of gangsters and police, the weakness of an undercover, the loyalty of friendships etc.

What can I say? It's a GOOD show!!

The only bad thing about this drama is the stupidity of the girl in the show la. After found out that her love one is an undercover, she tried to follow him everywhere and stop him from involving in the mission.

Stupid la.

First of all, although by doing all these show that your love for him is very deep, but for heaven sake don't you know you might make him fail his mission and got killed by the gangsters? Damn stupid la.

Can't stand her stupidity.

Second, you don't call the undercover's real name in front of gangsters when everyone in the gang only know his fake name, do you? I really beh tahan her stupidness. Arghh! Make me worry the safety of the undercover only.

Beh tahan beh tahan. How can the script writer be so bias one. I know we girls sometimes act according to our emotions, but when dealing with life and death I don't think we will take it so stupidly la. Don't we have brains? Won't we just think about the bad consequences before doing it? I just can't stand the stupidity of the girl in the drama. lol.

In this drama, Lee Jun Ki acts more manly.

Lee Jun Ki

But, I'm starting to get disappointed by his acting skills. He got no other face expression other than acting cool. He only either smirks or cries in the drama. When his brother told him that their uncle died in the fight, I was expecting him to be shocked with a frown on the face. But, no! He just stared blankly at his brother. How stone! Maybe that's his character in the drama. I dunno.

In contrast, I like 정경호 / Jung Kyung Ho's acting skills.

Jung Kyung Ho

Although he's not handsome, but in the show he had many facial expressions that can blend well with the story of the drama. I think he's the one who makes the presentation of drama looks smooth and reasonable. But I'm not saying Lee Jun Ki is handsome la. lol. He still looks girlish to me in the drama. Although I said he acts more man, but more man doesn't mean his face is not girlish right? haha.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I just read a gross but interesting article in this blog from a link in my friend's blog. This article explains the process of degradation of a dead body. It's really gross!

I think I will go for cremation. I don't want worms crawling in and out of my organs for months before I can get a good rest. Eww! Shusshh.. Leave my corpse alone! lol.

If one is very rich, I think cremation diamond is even better.

Blue cremation diamond

Summore this diamond thing is the most beautiful corpse (Should I call it corpse? coz it's already not in bodily shape) of all the corpses (from burying, normal cremation and cremation diamond). Burying is the grossest. Eww.

If I'm rich enough and I die, I want to become an orange diamond ring. Or if I'm very very filthifully rich, I want to turn into many orange diamonds and then someone has to fill a small beautiful glass bottle (see below) with me, me and me. lol. And then put it on the desk as a decoration. It's so beautiful and meaningful at the same time. hehe.

Then I can become Genie in the bottle. Muahaha..

Ngiak Ngiak. But they don't have orange colour diamond. Never mind la. I take yellow. =P

According to Memorial Gallery they can make colourless, blue, red, green and yellow diamonds. So many colours to choose from. Amazing right?

Mum once told me only immature young boys like orange colour and the wise likes blue colour. Bleh. Mum is biased coz she likes blue colour. Cheh. I don't care immature or not, orange is my favourite colour. Haha..

I gave my first time to Jay

Went to Jay Chow's concert at Stadium Merdeka yesterday with Zihui, HT and girlfriend, and HT gf's friend. It was the first concert I attend.

We reached there at around 5.30pm. The queue was still short, luckily.

Taken when we were waiting. Zihui and the very ugly me... (I look like a guy.. sob sob)
See the Malay girl behind us? She also come for Jay's concert. Geng.. I wonder she understand the songs.

Then around 6 something the gate was opened and the crowd started to inch towards the gate.

Some run into the stadium. We just walk slowly.

While waiting, we took pictures. hehe.. Coz really sien lo, have to wait from 6 something until 8 something le..

HT with the big hand

Took a very nice photo (I think it's nice) of the spotlight post while waiting.

And took another same one later at night.

The stadium was filled up quite fast.

The first fascinating thing I found about a concert was this:

The photo might not be of high quality but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here. When all the spotlights were off, the stadium was converted into a sea with blue and red fluorescent lights. Very very beautiful!

When the spotlights turned off. I was like "Awww.. It's so beautiful!" At that moment I thought the sky turned upside down already, the lights were like stars in the sky.

Didn't manage to take the picture of Jay Chow cuz my seat was too far from the stage. But HT took quite a lot videos. Hehe.

Basically what Jay performed was:

1. piano (he very yeng lo when he compete with Yu hao from Nanquan mama piano to piano exactly like the movie, The secret). Both of them played very fast while synchronizing each other.

Heard that the piano is crystal piano. Couldn't see that that night cuz it was too far. It's so clear from the picture here that the piano is transparent!

2. drum (very yeng also)

3. breakdance!! He did the Y shape head down style le.

Something like this..

4. Michael Jackson zombie dance.

5. Che ling 扯铃.

He throw the 铃 very high and caught it on the line le. So geng!

6. Play guzheng (Chinese zither) 古筝.

Somemore play until very fast.

7. And play guitar

He's yeng la when he play piano. That's my main purpose going to his concert. I'm so glad he replay the scene when he compete piano with Yu Hao.

Give extra points to him for this concert because he's got a flu but he still perform on the concert. Thumbs up for him!

After the concert, on our way back, KL streets are heavily jam and full of people walking at the pedestrian. Very riuh rendah.

**And these photos concluded that my Sony Ericsson K510i camera is pretty good during daytime (at least still can see my pimples.. hahahaa) but sucks at night. haha..

I'm Koreanphilic

Was half-dead today again. Same reason almost every month.

Got escorted back home by Choo Peng and Khai Meng after having lunch with them at workplace. Khai Ming drove my car. Before and on the way back, I was like a soon to give birth mum-- kept sweating, pale face, cold limbs and lying flat at the back seat.

According to Khai Ming, he heard some sayings that it's just an illusion being pain and all. Whoever thinks this theory is real please understand us, girls. Haiz.. Who wants to be painful and summore near-fainting every month? It's not fun at all. I hate to trouble people. Cuz every time when I'm near-fainting I would have to ask help from people to bring me home. Seriously it's very troublesome for people who are so kind to help me. Owe them a lot... I rather have the ability to walk and drive myself.

But, when I was really in pain just now. I tried to tell myself "Ok, this is just an illusion. I'm not painful at all." But it didn't work. Khai Ming said it's subconscious thinking. Uh...whatever...

Ok. Next month, no cold drinks no tea no coffee and loads of EPO one week before the date. Be a good girl...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I realized I tend to change idols every 1-2 years. My definition of idol is those people whom I will go google up for their photos for at least 5 times and save their pictures in my PC. And I will keep telling people around me how handsome they are. hehe...

My first idol was Ronan Keating from Boyzone back in sec school time. I love his voice but gradually lost interest for him cuz he didn't come out with new songs after very long.

Second was Bae Yong Jun (the leng chai uncle in Winter Sonata).

I like his body frame and eyes keke. Maybe he looks like someone back then. =P But gradually stop liking him after he kept long hair cuz looks like either Michael Jackson or Snape in Harry Potter. (I do like MJ's songs, but dun like guys with long hair.. =P) Summore his movie April Love was a mess. He didn't act well in the movie.

Third was Daniel Tan (local model)

Like to 'kap' him since A levels. He studied at Sunway-Monash campus. So sometimes I would see him around the campus back in A levels time. Then after that no more and hence forgot about him. Then after few years saw him on papers with Amber Chia I was like "huh? Become celebrities already ah?" Then found he's cute. But because I couldn't find much info of him on net. And I din got to watch his "Trio with a bed" local Chinese drama. So the interest faded again.

Then here come fifth one! My current idol. =) Micky YooChun from TVXQ!!

I heard about TVXQ around mid of 2006. But later around beginning of 2007 only started to notice them and started to look for their Banjun Dramas. Then craved for their fan videos from YouTube and some interviews and programmes. Then only I started to notice Micky.

My goodness his body is hot =P. This is not the main point though. The main point I like him is this, he's a joker in the group. lol. See this video, see how Micky (the one with pink shirt) make the faces when Jae Jong (the one with black shirt) was talking. No need to understand Chinese or Korean or Japanese, just see his facial expression. Talented actor la. haha... Just watch the first 1.16 minutes enough.

Of all reason, I think it's because Micky looks like someone. I dunno is it my illusion, I think Micky looks like Heng. =P That's why I like Micky.

Alike?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I'm not sure whether it's gonna lag with so many videos on one post. But I really like this song recently. A song from Coffee Prince called 海之行 meaning "A walk on the sea" (so weird one.. dunno translate correctly or not. lol).

The scene in this show damn romantic la. Haha. *Hint hint* =P Just joking Heng. But it's really clever of the producer to present this idea. =)

Definition of Beauty

Korean actresses are famous for their plastic surgery nowadays. Out of a sudden plenty beauties with similar faces appear on the screen.

After seeing all the same faces in Korean dramas, I'm already bored with those faces. Most of them have tall nose bridges and double eyelids. But there's still some, although plastic surgeried, could still attract me in every drama they casted in.

No, I'm a straight normal girl, no senget-senget. But these actresses are too pretty that I think they come from heaven.

These are my definitions of beauty:

Jeong Ryeo-Won (Gong-Li replicate)
PhotobucketPhotobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Park Eun-Hye from
大長今 (Dae Jang Geum)

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket

Song Hye-Kyo
My all time favourite

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket
No make up also pretty

Photobucket
Chubby chubby also pretty

I think they are different from other plastic-surgeried beauties because their eyes make them looks really innocent like angel from heaven when they smile.

Keke. My goodness I sound like a lesbian. =P

And I do like not-so-pretty actress who is good in acting, too.

Here's one:

Kim Seon-Ah from My Name is Kim Sam Soon

Photobucket

She's not very pretty type. But I like her acting. She's a real good actress. She has very rich funny expressions which other pretty actresses could never imitate.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Cute monkey expression. hehehe.. I like.

I really like her expression especially this Bengang look:

No other actress can have such funny bengang look.

She's a real 实力派 to me.
