Kimchi jjigae crave again

To be frank, I don't like blogging now. Because Facebook has been substituting blogging. I got to post nice photos with captions explaining my feelings and thinking, why do I still need a blog right? What good about blog is that I can express more as compared with FB (Coz i dun post notes in FB), but what if I say I don't want to let people know in detail what I'm thinking? Hehe. Then there's no point in blogging, right?

Ah.. right.. There's one good thing about blog though. I can at least trace back easily what I had posted even back to the ancient years. FB can't do that. FB has all the new events overlapping on top of old events, and hence making it hard (Or impossible?) to search back the photo or article or wall post.

So actually, I wanna list down the Korean restaurants I wanna visit to test their kimchi jjigae and beef BBQ here so that it'll be easy for me to trace back and also I can share my opinions here with Korean food lovers out there, and vise versa, too.

According to the website I found, there are a few restaurants which are highly rated:

1. Bulgogi BBQ House, Kota Damansara, PJ
2. Daorae, USJ Taipan (Tried pork BBQ but it was too long ago, I forgot how it tastes already)

3. Seoul Garden, Bandar Utama

4. Daorae, Desa Sri Hartamas

5. Haeun Khan, Persiaran Barat PJ

6. Kung Jung, Jln Bukit Bintang

7. Dae Jang Gum Korean BBQ, Bandar Puteri Puchong

8. Gomone, Ampang

9. Seoul Korea, Taman Danao Desa (Tried BBQ pork and beef, and kimchi jjigae. Kimchi jjigae was disappointing, BBQ was so-so. But I love the fried peanut with sugar banchan!! =D)

According to recommendation from ajussi (my Korean language classmate who isn't a Korean, obviously):

1. Korea House, SS2
2. A Korean restaurant in Taipan which is not Daorae (Either Dae Jang Gum or Han Woo Ri)
3. A very Korean style Korean restaurant which serve a book of kimchi cabbage in Sri Hartamas I guess (need to ask Ajussi to confirm what's the name.. lol)

I think I'll start with Daorae @ Taipan first. Can't wait to eat kimchi jjigae again!!

Reviving my blog..

Whoa.. I almost forget I have a blog!

OK la.. I'm back!

Just came back from my 5th yoga class. At first I was really reluctant to register for the class. Coz I think the class will bore me. I registered because can't stand my mum nag me almost everyday about how yoga can benefit me. So I gave up.. lol. Summore I wanna change my body posture. I feel that my posture is starting to get worse. I looked like gorilla when I walk and stand.. lol..

The yoga poses are too hard for me. I was thinking of giving up on yoga after having strained my body to do the poses during my 3rd class. But, after 4th class I started to notice my standing posture is better now. More straighten up. =) Now I think yoga is worth the hard work and pain. Now I kinda like it already. And the poses have became interesting challenges which makes me feel adrenalin pumping when I visualize myself achieving them.

Wish my postures will be all straighten up after yoga. =)

Last weekend went to Pisang Fall. It was Raleigh May Meeting!

The trek was easy and fun trek. Easy coz no uphill at all. Fun is because lots of stream crossing and walking in streams. And the streams are easy streams. Ankle deep most of the time. =)

Pisang fall got very limited falls. Only two.. =.=

Having fun watching people kena tortured. lol..

Me and June

Cooking with Vincent, the Mr President

Me and Ange when going towards the fall. See, the stream is really calm and only ankle deep. Wanted to race with Christal in the trek one.. haha.. but didn't.

Just came back from steamboat at Yuen @ Bdr Sunway with the girls because Steven and his fiance came Malaysia. Steven has to come Malaysia every 3-4 months, if not he will feel something in his life is not right. Hahaha.. He loves Malaysia too much already. =P

As usual, the procedure is eat + chitchat + gossiping about all the lecturers in uni last time + talking about career future + Malaysia and Indonesia market nowadays.. Whoa.. Very deep conversation, but I like to listen to this kind of informative chats. =)

-

Yesterday someone say I look like kampung girl when he looked through my long hair photos in FB. =.=

Maybe I should stick to my short hair already. Aunt says short hair suits me. ^^ She say I look more energetic with short hair.

Short hair nice also. No need to really maintain it. No need to care whether I need to tie it up, where did I put the hairband, whether it's too kembang during hot and humid weather and no need to wait too long for it to dry after shower.. etc etc.. I'm loving it! =)

Next Sunday Ekiden race already. Die. I not yet train lo.. Die Die Die..

Kimchi Jjigae crave not fulfilled

Got bitten by tiny creatures called chiggers from the forest.. Got around 10-ish of them. Ewww. I've killed them all already. But the chemical they release to dissolve my skin tissue (they suck the dissolved skin tissues as food) makes me feel so itchy!! According to the internet source, the itch will vanish after 2-3 days. Let's hope it will be okay by tomorrow or the day after. >.<"

Hmm.. My bites not so serious la.. No red spots.. Just a black dot only. =.=

Next time I'm gonna spray lotsa insect repellent when I'm in jungle. ><

Just now when at work the fire exploded in front of my eyes. My face can even feel the heat. It was that close! I was totally shocked and watched the Bunsen burner burn for few seconds, stunned. Then only suddenly realized if the fire spread to the gas cylinder bigger explosion would occur.

Being stupid, I blew the fire off. =.=" And being even more stupid, I didn't remove the hose from the cylinder and didn't turn off the knob at the cylinder. So, the gas continued flowing out. Luckily I didn't faint. And lucky no one was injured.

Today I had dinner at a Korean restaurant, Daorae, at Sri Petaling with Chung Ming Oppa (I call him oppa is because there isn't anyone who can let me call oppa here.. hehehe..). He just came back from NZ. Since I feel like eating kimchi jjigae, might as well ask him to go along with me, shun bian can meet him. =)

The food was a huge disappointment. Why? First of all, I've been craving for kimchi jjigae since 2 days ago. And then when I know I'm going to eat Korean food tonight I started to smell the kimchi jjigae in the air since 3pm at work. But when I took the first sip. Spiciness = obso, kimchi taste = obso. It was sweet, but not spicy at all! This is the first time I eat kimchi jjigae I dun even need to drink water at all! Really disappointed.

(Half-eaten only took this pic.. sorry for the mess)

And then the deokboggi (Rice cake) was also a disappointment. The sauce was tasteless. Again, it's not spicy! What's wrong with their Korean food? Why all not spicy one? Are they trying to adjust the level to those of Malaysians? Even I, someone who can't really eat spicy food, can drink the kimchi jjigae soup without aid of water, there's really something wrong with the spiciness lo. Sigh... Really disappointed.

(This is taken when both of us duwan to take in the deokboggi anymore)

Refuse to give up on the soup yet, I asked the waiter to give me gojujang (chili paste) so that I can add it to the soup to add some spiciness to it. But when they gave me their claimed gojujang.. it tasted like soy bean paste. =.=" We then asked them whether they gave us duen jang. They showed us duen jang which is brown colour and they claimed that that gojujang is really gojujang.. The disappointment was doubled with the gojujang.. Sigh...

I will never ever go back to that shop anymore. Maybe the next one I will go Taipan Daorae try their kimchi jjigae. Maybe find some time after work go there alone. Keke..

Decision made!

I had already graduated from Elementary Level 1 Korean language from ICLS two weeks ago. Had been considering and re-considering for countless times whether to continue to Level 2. The new class starts tomorrow. And if I am to attend the new class, I will have to pay tomorrow before the class.

Actually I was thinking I should take a rest from these because it is getting more difficult and I think next level will be even harder for me to handle. I'm worried that I won't absorb as much from the coming lesson as I should and hence waste my money. But on second thought, I think this thinking is an excuse to run away from challenges. It looks like a cowardly act which I hope I shouldn't have.

Furthermore, taking a rest might take me months because in order to wait for another batch of students who have Beginner level 2 qualification, it will take another few months. And I think I will karat within these few months lo.

So, I had just decided about an hour ago that I should continue with the studies and learn and practice as much as I can. But actually to practice I still need to find a Korean friend la. Sigh. Why is it so hard to find a Korean friend ah? Hey, any Koreans reading this? I can teach you English and you teach me Korean la. Can ah? lol.

Last weekend was tiring but contented coz I did few meaningful stuff. =)

Celebrated Woan Yng's birthday on Friday night at Full House @ Sunway Pyramid.

(Tomorrow only I will upload the photos coz I need to resize the photos first then only can upload, and it's too late now I wanna sleep first)

Saturday I did some farming although I really hate gardening. Went to the organic farm Bandar Harapan for the second time.

But this time we got to DIY fertilizer using some ash, garbage enzyme, bacteria, cow dung and dried grass.

It stinks! I dun like the smell. I think nobody like the smell la. Then most of us got to touch a gigantic worm and some daredevils hold them for photos. Very geli lo....

Then went to Lymun's house to clean tents from IW camp. 12 people, about 3 hours cleaning.

I like this picture. Everyone looks busy. How nice if Karlye, Faizal, Zed and Woon Chin are in this photo. They were busy hanging the tents.

And then it rained and we had to take off all the tents. =.=" But it's been so long since I've walked in the rain, I enjoyed the rain though, despite the fact that we had to find another spot to dry the tents. =(

Didn't follow them to Kepong to dry the tents after dinner. Really wanna give them thumbs up for the Raleigh spirit lo. =) Coz it's been such a tiring day already but they still had to worry about the tents until the next day.

Pichas!

My phone has a nickname. It's called "The abandoned store for photos"

Why? Because when I checked the folder in my phone it's so full of long forgotten photos which I took with the initial purpose of putting in this blog. No wonder my blog is so lack of pictures nowadays! lol..

Can I add some photos for the recent activities?

1. Popular Bookfair @ Summit

And I found the Story of 3 Kingdom book!!! Hooray! I wanted to buy this set at RM99 in Popular last time but it was too expensive, so I gave up. Guess how much it is now?

RM19 for this whole set!!

Holy S***!! To tell the truth I actually felt ecstasy when I saw the 80% tag behind.

-

2. Hanging out with Zhuang @ Pavilion 27 Nov 09

Our lunch at Little Wok @ Food court

The famous Santa's sleigh

Grand curtain. Very very elegant.

Me and Zhuang =) My childhood playmate.

Nice deco =)

3. Sky Trek and visit around Taman Pertanian with Yenny and Toh Theng

Many youngsters cycled there

But we took the bus instead of cycling. Coz we only have little time.

The bus got no window. I like!!

Nice Malay building

If I wear a baju kebaya.. will this photo looks different? =P

Cute colleagues (and ex-colleague, coz Yenny just left us this month)

I told you there's a LOT of people cycling

Watched fish going round and round

Or throw food to them and let them splash the water

Or just put some food on the hand and sacrificed my fingers (they bit really hard on my fingers)

Watch people getting ready for paintball

Testing the gun

I'm still wondering whether this tree is real or not. Coz there's lots of fake durian, papaya and other fruits hanging on the branch. Is it only the fruits which are fake or the whole thing? Hmm...

And before the trip to Taman Pertanian. Yenny recommended us to this famous Bak Kut Teh place at Klang. 直落玻璃瓦褒肉骨茶. The soup is rich of herbal taste. I feel healthy eating this Bak Kut Teh. Not very salty. It's just nice. So it made me feel I can eat few bowls.

My life is actually quite enjoyable. Minus the empty pocket from the fun I get. It's actually fulfilling =)

A day trip with a good friend is always refreshing

Went to the Tian Hou Kong temple with Keen just to buy the Buddha bracelet to replace the one I lost in sky trek last Sunday. Keen wanted to qiu qian, but there were too many people in the temple queueing up for it, so he gave up.

Upon his request we took some pictures at the rooftop. Actually didn't want to take picture anymore coz last time already taken before ma.

Then after that went to The Gardens to have our lunch.

I wanted to try something new. Since Keen said Nyonya Colors always have lots of people lining up to order food, I thought "let's give it a try!"

Looks like this restaurant is never short of long queue.

The interior of the restaurant is very nice. But a bit crowded lo...

I ordered Yellow Laksa

It really looks yellow! The soup taste very very nice! Taste like a combination of curry and kunyit. The white cubes are white radish I think. The white radish absorbs the soup hence making it tastes so much nicer than plain white radish. The chicken was tender. This dish is only RM8.90!! Consider cheap for the nice food and nice environment (air cond in Gardens) and nice decoration, minus the crowded seats.

Keen ordered Nasi kunyit + curry chicken which is also RM8.90.

The nasi kunyit was too hard. Maybe the prepared it early morning and placed there for hours already. I tried two sips of the curry. The curry broth was brilliant! It's rich with the taste of coconut milk and curry.

Both these dishes are not very spicy. So those who likes spicy might not find it tasty. But for me, I judge curry-based food by their intensity of the taste and smell of the spices they put in. So I think these are brilliant! No wonder so many people queue up for the food la.

Then, ice kacang (ABC) I ordered

Not very satisfying. It's not sweet. Not enough syrup I guess. The ice kacang tasted too plain for me.

Keen ordered cendol. I tried one sip. It's not the type of Indian cendol I fancy. It's Melaka type with very rich gula melaka taste. Keen loves it until he ordered two bowls of that. If I have to comment rationally despite my bias over Indian style cendol, I would say this cendol tastes better than those I tried in Melaka. The gula melaka taste was even thicker than the one sold at Jonker street.

Next time I'm gonna go there and try their other food if I go shopping in The Gardens again.

Facebook fails

Found this website last night. It's called Facebook Fail. This blog has a lot of funny facebook News Feed. Some are very hilarious. Some are just so-so. I picked out some funny one. Have a laugh! =)

1. I ate chicken, not salmon. lol!

2. Cock cookie drumstick?

3. Think before you write a comment

4. Does newborn determines whether you'll be aunt or uncle? lol... Roll on the floor laughing.

5. When you're dating two girls, make sure your girlfriends don't read this.

6. Sorry I forgot to mention that to you. =.="

7. Roomies fight on Facebook.
