Very busy weekend

The weekend was full of schedules.

Friday:
Morning - Go find Zhuang. We went to shopping at Pavillion! Had lotsa fun!

Night - Had dinner with Woan Ying and Audrey at Pappa Rich, Sunway Pyramid. And then we went to drink herbal tea at Gong Wo Tong. Had fun too! Received CP's birthday present from WY. It's cap again. lol. This year I've received 2 caps plus my previously own cap, it's 3 now. I seldom wear cap one.. Hope I can find some reasons to wear cap one day. lol.

Saturday:
Morning - Early morning around 7am woke up. I thought my alarm clock was kidding me waking me up so early on Saturday (i.e. 6.45am). Then only I suddenly remembered I promised Dennis to fetch Raleighians to campsite from IYC. I had to reach IYC at 8am. Luckily it was not very late yet. I drove pass the roundabout to IYC, U-turn back, called Marble for direction 3 times but he cut off my call. I was damn panic that time coz I seriously dun remember how to go IYC already. Then gave up calling Marble, called Vincent instead. He gave me the direction but I thought I overdrove again so I took a U-turn. Then later he pointed out that actually at the U-turn there it's the turn to IYC. =.=" I so wanna kill myself. So I look for another U-turn to turn back, mana tau I took the wrong turn and got myself into the residential area of Taman Cannaught. I started crying. Sobbed for 5 minutes while driving coz I was totally lost. I didn't know where I was. I called Marble again thinking his house is sorta near this area maybe he know the residential area. Mana tau when he answered the first thing he said was "SHIT! I forgot about the camp! Bye" So I called Vincent again but I couldn't tell him where I was. Then dunno how I turned back to Kesas and saw the familiar burial place beside the Kesas Highway. Thanks god! And I found the roundabout later. Following Vincent's direction I finally managed to reach IYC (before Marble... lol). Thanks to Vincent so much!

Whoa. My got-lost-in-Cheras story so long one.

So, I fetched them to the campsite, got to claim RM20 from Dennis for the petrol cover. And had fun helping them carrying things to the campsite (coz they were lacking man power), setting up the tent and helped Dennis take water with jerry can from the stream nearby. Awww I miss jungle so much! And I miss Raleigh moments so much! Miss being in a team. And I'm definitely regretting for not joining the long drop digging... I've never dug one before... But coz I'll be too late for Mei's tuition already and summore I've promised mum not to get into jungle during rainy season. Since I had already entered the campsite which sort of broken my promise, I felt bad and dragged myself away from the campsite after a small discussion with the Raleighians. I left around 10 something.

Afternoon - When I was back it was 12. I was damn tired. Tired actually from the non-stop walking on Friday with Zhuang in Pavillion plus carrying heavy stuff to campsite from that morning. Didn't opt for shower. =P Slept for an hour then went to give tuition to Mei. Taught tuition for 3 hours! It was already 6pm. Then after that Mei showed me a lot of Korean MVs and I watched with sleepy eyes. lol.

Night - After urging Mei to finish them up, I went to Pyramid to buy Yenny's present (coz just got request from Toh Theng to buy her present when I was at the campsite I guess). It was about 9 when I reached Pyramid. When I'm done buying the bag I straight away headed to pay the parking ticket. But I was too tired I didn't notice the note on it saying "This machine only accept RM1 notes". I fed it with RM10! My RM7 was gone! I thought it's the machine failure, so I walked all the way to the carpark helpdesk to claim back my RM7. They told me actually that machine only accepts RM1 notes. Luckily they were willing to pay me back the RM7. Thank goodness! When I'm back I feel like dying already.

Sunday:
Morning - Woke up with aching hand muscles due to carrying the things to campsite (too long never exercise that's why so lousy...) Fetch Audrey to Monash at 7.40am. Then came back and got myself prepared for Bak Kut Teh breakfast in Klang with Yenny and Toh Theng. Had breakfast until 9 something and went to Taman Pertanian (Botanical Garden) in Shah Alam. We were lucky. Before we headed for the Taman it was raining, but when we got down the car the rain stopped. We reached there at around 10am. We took the free bus to tour around the Taman. We visited the paint ball place, fed some Tilapia fish and got to touched them with my fingers and them biting my fingers, took some pictures...

Afternoon: And then we went for sky trek! We joined Yenny's cousin and friends which made 15 of us. The game was damn fun! Flying fox looked so scary to me last time but now I think it's the easiest obstacle of all. Coz it totally need no energy. It was no longer scary now coz I know that the carabiners and the harness were very reliable. Climbing the stairs to a platform on the tree was the hardest. My hand ache when I was not even halfway climbing up. And second hardest was walking on hanging poles. The poles keep swining left and right making it hard for me to step on them. Although I had already secured myself to the rope above me and summore with the harness safely wrapped around my butt, I still feel scared. What if I lost grip on the poles and I was hung by the harness and I can't pull myself up to continue with the journey? Oh, I'm just being negative. Coz actually I can pull myself up one. The strings would help.

Before the trek I put my handphone in So's locker. But during the trek she left earlier coz she had to bring her niece and nephews to tuition. So my handphone is with her now. Tomorrow only can get back from her. I feel so weird without my handphone by my side. And when my handphone is not with me only I feel it's so important.

One more thing I lost during the trek was my buddha bracelet. It broke off when I was walking along a net obstacle. The bracelet brushed against the net and broke off. Have to get myself another one soon. I feel weird not wearing a buddha bracelet on my wrist now. Maybe I'm too used to wearing it already.

Since my hand memang already aching this early morning, the sky trek didn't add any pain to it anymore. lol...

Oh I love sky trek! Wanna go for more challenging one next time. =)

P/S: Sorry. Pictures I took were in my handphone and it's not with me now. I'll upload them as soon as I have my handphone back. Then some of the pictures of me doing the sky trek were with Yenny. Will put it up when Yenny shares on Facebook.

Amazing race weekend

I felt like I was on an amazing race last weekend. Running here and there. And in the end ended up fell asleep in Kim Gary after having dinner with my girls. keke...

The big thing on last weekend was of course the 21km run!

On and off 10 minutes joggings before my work, and one 1 hour jogging a week before the run. These are my pathetic trainings I had for the 21km half marathon. Summore I was having flu one week before the run after the longest training (1 hr run) for one whole working week. Untill Friday only I felt slightly better. But I woke up with a stuffy nose and slight sore throat (again) on Saturday morning. Then I went out 8.30am to get the race pack and then went straight to Port Dickson for Raleigh AGM. I thought I will be back by 10 something but I calculated wrongly. I forgot to include the BBQ dinner which was suppose to start at 8pm.

Watching Raleigh Expedition video made by Shih Chung. It never fails to move me.

Exhausted from the meeting

Group photo after the meeting

Quality control the watermelons. =P

5 girls prepare one bowl of cincau. lol..

Raleigh style =)

I was damn moody when eating the BBQ already coz I was sleepy and hungry (coz BBQ needs a lot of waiting but only can eat very little food o.O) Heay is generally a very nice and sweet person when she's not hungry nor sleepy but can be very scary and unapproachable when she's hungry or sleepy. Even worse if both. We left PD at 10 something and after all the traveling (Thanks to Soon I din need to drive. Sam fu sai..) I reached home at 1am. -.- Then had to wake up at 4am coz meeting up Karen my ex-supervisor to go for the run. Which means I slept 3 hours for the run only! Not cool...

Actually one week before the run I was already planning how not to go for the run. My flu had even strengthen my plan. =P So when I reached home from PD I started to plan my excuses =P

1. I didn't manage to beat the traffic to go to the run (which in the end became invalid coz the traffic was actually very clear)
2. I overslept (I had to fetch my ex-supervisor there too, she's running 10km. I can't be this selfish)
3. My knees and ankles hurts (I always have painful joints when I didn't sleep enough or sleep too late e.g. 3am onwards. But the pain had faded a lot when I reach there -.-)

So I had no more excuses but to face the challenge. If someone tells me these bullshit about giving excuses to run away from a challenge I'll tell myself "This person is such a coward". I won't tell straight to the face la coz this world is democratic. So I can't give up can I? =P

The crowd ready to start the run

Before the run. Seriously I think my arms look chubby enough. lol.

The starting of the run was not fun. Not fun at all. Coz I was still very demotivated. And when I ran many people 'potong' me as if I was running like a tortoise. -.- I kept turning my head to look back coz I was scared I would become the last runner. Very no face one le.. Luckily still got quite a number of people behind me (most of them were the ones who started late one actually.. lol)

Although kena 'potong' didn't feel good, I didn't speed up at the beginning of the run although I got plenty of energy in the beginning coz long runs should start slow then only slowly accelerate one. So I kept psycho myself that I would need the energy to complete the run. Steady speed is better than frequent rests. At quite beginning of the run I saw a white man who ran with limpy left leg. I was already feeling respect towards him being unable to run like normal people he still run with such determination. My demotivated mood faded. Later something shocking totally diminished my demotivated mood. I saw him stopped at the roadside and took off his artificial leg! OMG! I wanted to give him a thumbs up!

But I still keep my pace la. I didn't accelerate so that I have enough energy left to accelerate at the last 100m. It really worked! Throughout the run I didn't stop or walk except stopping for water at the drinking stations. Oh ya, and also when I still had 5 more km to run and my ankle hurt like hell, I stopped for some ointment for my legs from the first aid team. I didn't walk even when my ankle hurt. No, actually I couldn't walk! I wanted to give up. I wanted to walk to the end. But when I tried to walk my leg muscles were even more painful. So I kept my pace slow but in a jogging mode. And in the end I even managed to speed up at the last 100m until I reached the finishing line. It was 2 hours 50 mins showing on the electronic board. I felt an overwhelming satisfaction coz I didn't expect myself to finish this run. =) This same feeling from Singapore Standard Chartered 10km run came back to me again yesterday.

After the run I went to get the medal at the Dataran Merdeka. I went walking around to look for where to queue and bumped into my girls: GP, WY and SY! They said right before they saw me they were wondering where I was. Whoa.. I very long life lo. Hehe...

I left them to get the medal from the 21km counter. There, for the second time I saw my Korean class classmate whom I just met on Friday. We were assigned to the same group in the class so he looked familiar to me. I saw him once before the run but I didn't remember he was my classmate, just feel he looks familiar. Then second time I remember him already but I dun remember his name so I didn't call out. Then when I was queuing for the medal, I saw him again. o.O But I still dun remember his name. Then half way queuing I remember his name liao. His name is Alec. But he's no where to be seen already. lol..

Then hor.. After I took the medal and wanted to get my bag from Jeslie (a Raleigh friend who didn't run) only I realized that my handphone was in the bag. I totally had no idea how to get her. So I walked around the padang to look for her but to no avail. Then I met Hui Mei (another Raleigh friend who just finished 21km also) who also lost her friend. We decided to stand at the middle of the field hoping that our friends would see us when they walked pass. Hui Mei met her friend. I didn't have that luck. But I was lucky enough to bang into Alec again for the 4th time. o.O This time he saw me also and he went "Eh? You are... from the Korean class right?" And then we noded to each other and he went away.

After about 5 mins I was still standing there waiting for Jeslie to see me, planning whether I should ask a clown to make a balloon hat for me to wear so that she can see me easily. LoL. Then Alec passed by me again. Sweat.. 5th time. So I just smiled to him and said I'm waiting for my friend (coz I felt I looked like an idiot standing there doing nothing). Luckily Hui Mei was with me la. If not I look even more like an idiot. The 6th time I saw him, he passed by again, seeing me still waiting for friend he offered to lend me his phone to call Jeslie. But I dun remember her hp number. Very stupid one.. She helped me jaga my bag I actually can call my own phone one. Stupid.. (-.-)||

After a while Karen found me at the middle of the padang and CK (Hui Mei's bf. Also from Raleigh) came to find Hui Mei and told me he saw all the Raleigh people at the roadside including my bag keeper Jeslie. What luck that day couldn't find my bag keeper but met my girls, Karen, Hui Mei and Alec (6 times summore o.O). lol. So, standing in the middle of the field did work. =P

My bag keeper Jeslie jaga-ing my bag at the roadside while I was frantically looking for her at the padang. -.-

With Karen

And with the Raleighians who went for the run.

After the run I went back with Karen, showered and went for the next destination, sing k with Cheng Yee and the boys. Didn't get to sleep before went out. Sang until 5 something I came home, online a while only went out Pyramid for dinner with the girls again. Didn't get to sleep again. That's why in the ended I K.O.-ed in Kim Gary. Just took a nap for a while when the girls was discussing about how long they slept after the run. The first thing I came home was to throw myself into the bed. Damn tired...

Fell asleep in Kim Gary

Sailing with Raleigh and RSYC

Last Saturday went for sailing with Raleigh people. Yes! You read it correctly! I went to sail! haha...

Never in my life could I imagine stepping into one of these elegant boats. I remember when I was standard 5 my teacher sent me to Sebana Cove Marina in Kota Tinggi for a sketching competition. The title was to sketch the keelboats parking at the dock. That was the first time I saw keelboats.

The second time I managed to see these boats was when I stayed in Sebana Resort with my hometown friends during weekends and I managed to take some photos with the boats. But still no access to them. I could only stand beside the boat for pictures.

I've never done this before!

Last Saturday, thanks to Raleigh and Royal Selangor Yacht Club (RSYC), I got to sunbathe on the keelboat!

I had really bad sun tan afterwards. After KK trip already very tanned. It's worsen by the sailing now. But it's worth it coz this brand new experience is proudly sitting on my (virtual) "have done" list.

We reached RSYC early that day. Before the rest reached we took some photos with the boats parking by the roadside.

Took with a broken old boat also. =P

Took with the RSYC flag pole coz we got nothing to do. haha. .

As usual we started with making a big circle, i.e. the monthly meeting.

And not to forget, the must have group photo with new Raleigh banner. =P

I particularly like these photos where I was candid shooted by Eric Ho. =P

A leng lui sailer, Ai Lin, gave us a short course on sailing later on. She taught us about the sailing terms of different parts of keelboat and the position name of each crew in the boat. We were flooded with lots of sailing terms which I forget almost every part in the boat. I only remember starboard (means right hand side of the boat), mainsheet, jib and keel. Hehe.

Skipper (the captain who control the wheel)
Mainsheet trimmer (control the main sail rope)
Jib trimmer (control another sail rope)
Cockpit (pull up and down the sails)
Bowman (stand in front one.. dunno what's the job role.. hehe)
Balast (a heavy-weighted man/woman who has to run from left to right of the boat to balance the boat depends on situation )

After our buffer lunch at RSYC, we were introduced to our skippers respectively. Mine was Jeff, A strong and tanned British at his 60s.

Jeff led us to his keelboat called Rapscallion. Long and hard to pronounce name. lol.. Jeff showed us how to get onto the boat.

First hold the handle

Then stand on the side of the boat and then just cross the leg over to another side.

Get Pei already hopped on. But we were still taking photos. Hehe.

The first thing we had to do was to take the covers off the sails and fold them neatly and put them into the drawers underneath the seats.

The interior of the boat: 2 beds, 1 sink, 1 oven, 1 kettle, (stove I'm not sure got or not), 1 toilet, 1 reading table, 2 storerooms.

Toilet. The water has to be hand-pumped from the sea. First pump was to flush down (not yet pump up the seawater), second pump was to pump up the seawater and reflush the bowl.

Keen at kitchen area

I stood in front of the storeroom

Jeff showed us the indicators for speed of the boat, depth of the water and the third one I dun remember. =P Maybe fuel level.

Jeff showed us the compass. It's very important for sailing coz you dunno which direction you heading to when you're in the wide open sea.

At first the sails were not pulled up. Jeff used engine to drive the boat to somewhere more open, somewhere lesser obstructions.

Then Jeff gave an order to pull up the sail. We unzipped the cover, loosened some ropes (under supervision of Tom, Jeff's helper) and started pulling the ropes. And finally the sails were up!

Sailing needs a lot of tacking. Tacking is when the boat wants to sail towards one point, the boat has to go zig zag towards it. When the boat reach one point where it needs to turn right or left, we have to get ready for tacking. Tacking is done by loosening one jib sheet (rope that holds to the jib sail) and tightening another one. This changes the direction the jib is facing thus changing the direction of the boat.

Whenever Jeff said we need to tack, all of us got ready at the left and right of the boat. One side was to be loosen and one side tightened. Gosh pulling the ropes needs so much energy. Actually we just need to turn the wrench, not pulling the rope, when we want to tighten the rope. Everyone was busy pulling and letting go of ropes when tacking. So no photos of us tacking taken. =(

See the rope in between me and Get Pei? It's a tightened rope. We were getting ready to tack at this moment.

Other than tacking, we actually have nothing to do except sitting at the side of the boat enjoying the sun (urgh.. I hate sunbathing..)

They were so lucky their boat has shade =(

It was quite scary that the boat would tilt to one side!! When Ai Lin said balast has to climb from the one side to one side, it was actually true!

The side of the boat almost touching the sea

We were all balasting the boat. Haha.

We saw one very nice circle rainbow when we were resting! This was the second circle rainbow I saw. The first one I saw was when I was 11 years old in Kampar.

Nice right?

Jeff was nice. He taught everyone of us how to control the direction of the boat.

After that only I realized that if the boat was tilting to the left we have to turn the wheel to the left as well to balance the boat. It really helped balancing the boat! =)

We saw Starcruise too! This is the first time in my life seeing a Starcruise (normally just see in newspaper or dramas) Hehe.

Around 5pm everyone reached the dock and started to fold back and cover back the sail.

We took a group photo with Jeff and his Rapscallion

All the boats are 'parking' by the dock already

Everyone enjoyed the sailing. See the smiling faces. =)

p/s: Do not wear caps during sailing unless you really hate your cap. The wind was too strong that day it blew off Get Pei's favourite cap to the sea.
