Too bad the pic file size is too small. Cant enlarge.

Ate durian the other day. Damn nice oh. Very bitter and with alcoholic taste equals perfect. Yummy. We just bought one. Cost us RM9. This durian quite heavy la... about 2 kg. But hor, the isi very sikit lo. Sigh. Can't satisfy my taste bud. Hmm... Next time go buy more. =P

Everyone who know me or who just met me told me I always smile. Mun K said I always smile when she kacau me. Even the evaluation certificate from Raleigh said "Yink Heay's happy smile makes her a delightful girl to have for any team-oriented activity." Muahahaha. And Heng says he likes to see my eyes almost closed when I smile. lol.

Like this ah? lol

But, there are bad comments too. Adam say I smile when I'm happy, when I'm sad and even when I'm angry. Haha... Where got so scary le, uncle. Though sometimes I will smile when I'm angry, but it's a faint one la... I not so fake one le. =P

True also la. I do smile when I'm sad and miserable. This is a pic taken 1 hr after my handphone got stolen. Did I look sad?

I have to admit that I am really a talented smiler =P My mum told me that I turned to smile at her the next day she gave birth to me. When I was still a baby, I laughed all the time when I played with the dangling things in the baby bed. Keke...duwan show u those pics...=P

Now when I flipped through the photos, I found that I was always caught smiling or laughing.

Pic taken when I was 2 or 3 years old. Smiling right? Haha...though a bit cunning smile. =P
There are others la. Duwan show here for privacy purpose =P

So, no wonder I'm such a talented smiler. =P Haha...

Recently I am reading 红楼梦with pictures. This is how the cover of the book looks like.

The one in red is贾宝玉and the lady in pale yellow sitting beside him is 林黛玉

There are pictures in the book and one or two sentences at the bottom. Very simplified form of 红楼梦.Browsing through the pictures does not give a clue on the story because it's not a comic. The picture is just for decoration actually. lol. No wonder last time when I was young I dun understand the story at all. =P

After reading this, I plan to read 三国演义白话文版.I had tried reading this book before but fell asleep twice at a chapter (dun remember what the chapter was about already, about 张飞one). This time I'm gonna force myself to finish the whole book. I'm so ashamed of myself, being a chinese dunno about stories in 三国演义. Then, after this, I wanna look for 孙子兵法to read. If I got the gut, maybe read China history. Haha. I think after finish reading I'll be half insane.

This one looks more boring right? =P Dun care... I wanna force myself finish reading this.

I made another food recently. Read a blog entry the other day. The author cooked cauliflower in boiling water and then blend it into mashed cauliflower and she suggested that this can substitute mashed potato. So, I tried making this. Exactly the same ingredient except that i substitute potato with cauliflower.

The mashed cauliflower looked like this. The taste was exactly the same, of course. Just that the texture was a bit cauliflower, unlike potato sticky sticky one.

Yummy!!

Mashed potato freak

Looks tasty right? It is!!

It tasted like those in TGI's. Just that the parsley leaves are too visible because I was lazy to blend with blender. Hehe

I've been looking for recipes for mashed potato. I googled few recipes on mashed potato making. Then, find the similarities and also match them with those mashed potato I ate in TGI Friday and Chili's. And with Adam's advice (he say he likes cooking).

Boiling the potatoes are just the same. Different recipes differ by the ingredients used that give the flavour. In the end, I decided to use onion, black pepper, parsley and butter. Mashed the potatoes and cooked them along with the ingredients. Do melt the butter before putting everything to the pan yea.

Then I topped the mashed potato with my typical brown sauce (corn oil+oyster sauce+tapioca starch+water) to let it blend with the buttery taste. The sesame on top was solely for the appearance. lol

It was very very yummy!

We substitute the rice for the dinner with the mashed potato. =P

Very nice ice cream!! Except the coarse particles from the coffee bag... =P
The sponge part is too hard. I din measure the milk properly, so I thought I put too much milk, so I added more flour, came out very hard lo.

I think the ice cream is a great success though. =) Next time I'm going to make chocolate chip ice cream and store in the freezer. And take it out to eat when I feel like it =P

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And today I made my first bak zhang. =D Learn from my grandma. It's a 唐山粽 (tang shan bakzhang) originated from, of coz, Tang Shan in China. Swt. At first very hard to shape them but gradually got better skills. =P
I made about 2-3 sets =D Tie the bakzhang until my fingers painful.
Dun understand why those modern bakzhang use the Rafia string, so unhealthy to the fingers. =P
Tomorrow I'm going to bathe Pinky. Yeay!
First time ever! =P
She's so cute I start to like her.
Food!!
Last night I made a glass of mango ice blended. I had been drinking mango ice blended (at the Williams at Taman Megah and Lemongrass at Pyramid). I like the combination of the ice crunchy texture and mango soft texture.
When I blend the ice, I thought the ice couldn't be blended by the 20 yrs old blender.
But, it works!!
The texture was nice. But, the taste not mango enough. =( Maybe I should put two mangos. lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oh yea!!

Before that, I had french fries during dinner. When I see this, my stomach growled. I think both me and my stomach miss french fries very much. lol. Dun hav Mc D one, homemade one tahan first.

Just fry the potatoes then add some soy sauce. Tada!! =)

It's just as nice

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm planning to make a coffee ice-cream cake for my dad as father's day present (and mother's day too, coz din giv mum any present on mother's day).
This is the first time I make an ice cream cake. I've tried baked cheese cake (many times--lemon, orange or oreo flavours), butter cake (coffee flavour), sponge cake (vanilla flavour), steam cake (vanilla flavour) and chocolate cake (both moist and spongy type).
Then only realised I put the wrong coffee powder. I put those coarse coffee powders instead of instant coffee powder as indicated in the recipe. My dad later told me that he dun like those 渣 (the coarse particles in coffee powder). =(
Tomorrow, as described by the recipe, I'm gonna take the mixture out from the freezer and blend it till it's fluffy. Then only can serve. Hope it come out fine.
Later when I cleaning the utensils, I can't resist to try the cream. I take straight from the blender with my fingers. Yes. You guess it right, I tasted it. It was so yummy!! Shouldn't have problem with the coffee powder I think.
Can't wait to try it tomorrow!! =D
I'm home... Yesterday.
I dunno what tone I should put in when I say this. I'm both sad and happy. I'm sad because this town is very boring to stay in. No shopping complex, no cinema, and most importantly no Mc Donald's!! And friends all not here. Sienz..
But, I'm glad that I can finally stay longer with my family. Had been studying at a place 300++ kilometres from home for 5 years. Though not very far, but it took 5 hours to travel from one to another. Very tiring, whatsmore to-and-fro (I normally spend around 3 days to sleep when i reach home). So, for the last 5 years, unless I had long holiday (i.e. more than 2 weeks) I would hardly go home.
For these 5 years, home had gotten more and more stranger to me. Sometimes during my holidays, I couldn't find where the chopsticks were. Over the years, many things in my home changed gradually. The door kept changing colour; the dining table changed; the biscuits, instant noodles and milo changed location; the fishes in aquarium changed from those big 花罗汉(Flower Horn Cichlasoma) to goldfish, then to 鲤鱼(carp), and then to 红宝石(Hemichromis guttatus). I always tried to adapt to the changes when I go back on holidays.
Now, I'm back for good. Had applied for jobs in Singapore and waiting for more to apply. The first thing I did when I reach home (if don't count unpacking) was supper!! I miss the beef noodle soup in the hawker centre. The stall only open at night in the hawker centre. The beef is extremely tender. The soup is actually different from those in KL, as u can see in the picture, it is not like those dark colour soup back in KL. I added pepper to make it taste better. Yummy!!
This morning, I went to my grandma house. My parents visit my grandma every weekday mornings. They work mainly on weekends as drawing tuition teachers because the children are normally free on weekends. So they take up tuition classes on weekends. It's a norm here. So, I went to my grandma's house and a very friendly dog welcome us. Last time I don't dare to get near dogs because when they sniff my leg or toes, I'll imagine that the next thing they would do is to bite my leg. But, after that I find dogs don't bite so often, sniffing and licking means they like us. So, I started to play with dogs rather than running away from them. Then, recently, I started to like dogs more, especially those furry one. So cute!!
This is Pinky. She's actually white and a bit light brown. I wonder why the fur is pink colour in the picture. No wonder her name is Pinky. lol (the pic is a bit blur because she keep moving)
Although I like dogs very much. But, I'm not very good in playing with them. All I know is to let them lick my hand or just sayang their heads. This morning when I was playing with the dog. Simply just let her lick my hand only and let her sit on my lap. Then all of a sudden she leaped and kissed my lip. I was so shocked. My god! She took my first kiss away... =( Haha...but she's so cute I can't blame her. =P
My camera a bit cacat when I take this pic. lol
Pinky looks very cute when my mum put her paws next to her face. So, I took the pic.
====================================================================
Oh yea! On the way back from KL to Kota Tinggi, after paid at Kulai highway toll, the car suddenly got problem. A very very loud sound came from the engine. My dad described that the car sounds like a 坦克车 (a military tank) passed by. I think it sounds like a machine gun. We had to park at the roadside. It was the exhaust pipes in front got detached. Hence the sound. My dad called up his friend (曾河中老师Zeng He Zhong teacher if direct translated from chinese, a very famous caligraphy high-hand in Kulai, or maybe even Malaysia) for direction to a garage. We waited in the rain for more than half an hour.
Then, we followed Mr Zeng to the garage. On the way, the car was very noisy and very weak (it's like going up a hill with gear 4,拉牛上树...lol). Had tea with Mr Zeng at the restaurant nearby for an hour. Then after that gave Mr Zeng some home-made dumplings as a thank you gift. =) Really thankful to him. Without him we might had to find exhaust garage shop by shop. Then, we went back KT. The car was very nice to drive, very quiet and steady on the way back =).
My last few days in Sunway
4 days ago, I just realised that I'm leaving Sunway in a week's time. This coming wednesday, I'm going to move all my things back to my hometown. I myself can't accept this fact. For 5 years I stay in Sunway, I had of course got used to the environment, and what's more the lifestyle here.
I had been going for gatherings for farewell purpose, with different gangs of frens. Very memorable, and I know I'm gonna miss them all. Especially my bestest best frens, CP and Audrey. Just came back from Audrey's room after I came back from a farewell gathering with my charity frens (Charlieans). A sudden surge of feelings overwhelmed me when I see her packing her stuff in the room. She's leaving tomorrow. =( I wonder when I can see her again after tomorrow. So, we chatted in her room for about 1 and half hours, until three of us started yawning.
The gathering started off with a steamboat party in Hin Kian's house and it took us whole day.
The next day I was so exhausted I slept until noon. I woke up and I thought to myself that I'm going to eat some lunch and continue sleep the whole afternoon. Instead, I went shopping and watch movie in pyramid with CP.
After that, came back, showered, and went out for dinner with Charlieans at Taman Megah Williams. Initially, me and Yumin round the Lim Kok Weng old campus n times, but cant find the stall Elaine described to us. Then, when Elaine reached and led us there, only we know the old small stall by the roadside we kept passing by n times is the famous Williams. We ordered Spaghetti carbonara, nasi goreng ketam, cheese nan (cheesy dough served with concentrated milk and 2 types of curry kuah), triple H (3 layers of bread sandwiched with chicken or beef served with thousand island sauce), another spaghetti dunno wat it's called. All are nice! I ordered mango ice blended too. Gosh. Din know there's a great food stall with big portions of food here. I knew this stall too late. How sad... If I got the chance to go again. I deifinitely will.
Cont. from previous entry
Where was I?
Ok, after finish eating cendol we went for lunch. And, I passed by a taxi stand which I've never seen in the city (though I had spent parts of my childhood in Kampar before, I din notice it)
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Then on the way to have our lunch, we've passed by old residential areas.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
And some new houses....
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Finally we reached UTAR area for lunch. The place was very nicely built and they have a Grand Hotel there too.
UTAR students normally walk to this area to have their meals. There are laundry shops, cybercafe, steakhouse, asian cuisine restaurant, comic shop and many more. How I wish Sunway can have these shops. Sigh...
After lunch, we went Ipoh. On the way, I passed by Gopeng.
Looks like the town got abandoned and dead
Took some pics of the mountains too (Perak is a state with many mountains)
That's all for my Perak trip photos. After that we went to the grave. Then, only I know what the colourful beans are for. We threw them on the grave. I din ask y. I guess it's to ensure my grandparents' peace.
A day trip to Perak
Yea. Finally the most colourful blog entry is here. haha... Sorry wey yiing I made you wait.
I went to Kampar (an Ipoh) on Tuesday to visit my grandparents who had passed away. So, early in the morning about 7am my parents came to fetch me and we go straight to Kampar. Me and my mum was playing with the camera in the car.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Then half way to Perak, it was very misty. It's like we were in Genting. I guess it's because the sun is rising by then and the dew was evaporating, hence the cloudiness.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The sun had finally arisen and all of us desperately needed toilet!!!! especially my dad... lol. I wonder why ALL the rest places along the highway from selangor to perak were closed. Closed as in the roads to the toilets were blocked. If I'm not mistaken with the name, it was the Tapah rest station which was open. All of us rushed to the toilet and went to the food court to have some drinks and rest for a while. So, I continue my photo taking. =P
My bro hugging my mum (my bro handsome right?)
Then the professional photographer (My bro) take our pic
When we reached my aunt's house at Kamparm, it was around 11am. I followed them to go lawyer firm and then my aunt car was almost burning (engine too hot) and she was worry that her car cannot make it to Ipoh. So, we looked for foreman.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
But no one is inside.
My aunt called the foreman and wait for him to come back. So, I walked around the shoplots to take some pics. The buildings are like those in Malacca and Penang old towns. They are about hundred years old and very historical.
This is the Kampar main road
Never seen this kind of wood door eh? And see the corridor arch, ancient roundish one.
Old shop lots...some of them got painted
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
See the difference in the building design?
When I went back to the shop, the foreman was checking my aunt's car. He say its the water in radiator which had run out and the water in the water tank was low. So, the water in water tank was not sufficient to flow to radiator. That's y the car engine temperature was increasing fast.
After filling in water, we waited for the two guys to meet us and discuss on our plan. The guys looks like aunties after grocery shopping, holding plastic bags..
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
So, I followed my mum to look for colourful beans, I was wondering why. Then I saw the longkang (the drain). The water running in the longkang was so clear I told myself I must take a pic.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
As clear as the stream water I saw in jungles
(see my shadow? hehehe)
My mum was told that colourful beans are available in the mini market. So, we proceeded to the mini market. We walked to the minimarket and I joined my dad and bro because they were going to eat cendol. Hehe... My fav!!!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
On the way to the cendol stall
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Reaching the destination
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Looks nice!!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Satisfied... NOT.
(firstly, too sweet, because too much syrup;
second, the greenish cendol taste not strong enough)
Note for anyone who dunno what cendol is:
Cendol is a kind of desert which is normally served in a small bowl full of shaved ice and rice coconut milk (of coz with plenty of cendol strips--the green ones made from pandan leaves). It is sweetened with thick brown coloured syrup made from palm sugar (gula Enau/ gula Melaka). Apart from this serving combination, cendol can be also served with glutinous rice or red beans.
In Malaysia, you can easily find cendol sold in small stalls along roadside and in some restaurants. Different people have different expectation for cendol. I personally like those with less brown sugar and more coconut milk and cendol strips ones. I like it when the pandan and coconut taste can blend well. But, my friends like those with more brown sugar.
Alkaline water helps to improve the texture by making the cendol smooth and bouncy.
