Kimchi Jjigae crave not fulfilled

Got bitten by tiny creatures called chiggers from the forest.. Got around 10-ish of them. Ewww. I've killed them all already. But the chemical they release to dissolve my skin tissue (they suck the dissolved skin tissues as food) makes me feel so itchy!! According to the internet source, the itch will vanish after 2-3 days. Let's hope it will be okay by tomorrow or the day after. >.<"

Hmm.. My bites not so serious la.. No red spots.. Just a black dot only. =.=

Next time I'm gonna spray lotsa insect repellent when I'm in jungle. ><

Just now when at work the fire exploded in front of my eyes. My face can even feel the heat. It was that close! I was totally shocked and watched the Bunsen burner burn for few seconds, stunned. Then only suddenly realized if the fire spread to the gas cylinder bigger explosion would occur.

Being stupid, I blew the fire off. =.=" And being even more stupid, I didn't remove the hose from the cylinder and didn't turn off the knob at the cylinder. So, the gas continued flowing out. Luckily I didn't faint. And lucky no one was injured.

Today I had dinner at a Korean restaurant, Daorae, at Sri Petaling with Chung Ming Oppa (I call him oppa is because there isn't anyone who can let me call oppa here.. hehehe..). He just came back from NZ. Since I feel like eating kimchi jjigae, might as well ask him to go along with me, shun bian can meet him. =)

The food was a huge disappointment. Why? First of all, I've been craving for kimchi jjigae since 2 days ago. And then when I know I'm going to eat Korean food tonight I started to smell the kimchi jjigae in the air since 3pm at work. But when I took the first sip. Spiciness = obso, kimchi taste = obso. It was sweet, but not spicy at all! This is the first time I eat kimchi jjigae I dun even need to drink water at all! Really disappointed.

(Half-eaten only took this pic.. sorry for the mess)

And then the deokboggi (Rice cake) was also a disappointment. The sauce was tasteless. Again, it's not spicy! What's wrong with their Korean food? Why all not spicy one? Are they trying to adjust the level to those of Malaysians? Even I, someone who can't really eat spicy food, can drink the kimchi jjigae soup without aid of water, there's really something wrong with the spiciness lo. Sigh... Really disappointed.

(This is taken when both of us duwan to take in the deokboggi anymore)

Refuse to give up on the soup yet, I asked the waiter to give me gojujang (chili paste) so that I can add it to the soup to add some spiciness to it. But when they gave me their claimed gojujang.. it tasted like soy bean paste. =.=" We then asked them whether they gave us duen jang. They showed us duen jang which is brown colour and they claimed that that gojujang is really gojujang.. The disappointment was doubled with the gojujang.. Sigh...

I will never ever go back to that shop anymore. Maybe the next one I will go Taipan Daorae try their kimchi jjigae. Maybe find some time after work go there alone. Keke..

This Stingose is damn good for leech bites itchiness! You can get it in any pharmacy in Malaysia. It can even be used for serious stings and bites like from bees, jellyfish and some other insects, just to ease the pain or itchiness. Further medication or hospitalization is needed if toxins are involved.

噢... 好累... 我要睡了。晚安! ^^

IW Dec 09

Just came back from IYC (International Youth Centre). Helped up with the ice breaking game and was supposed to go to Gombak to collect food and deliver it to IYC but was lost in Taman Connaught. So I went to IYC instead and due to time constrain coz ice breaking game will be starting in an hour time. Vincent went to get the food instead.

There are 32 participants this time and the surprising thing is that the ratio of guy and girls are 1:1! For the past IW normally girls are more than guys one. This one look so healthy and balanced! And I saw good signs: participants get along with each other well pretty fast. We gave them the chance to get to know each other at the lobby while we getting ourselves prepared. Then when they came to the registration desk they were all chatty and laughing already. There are only few who are quiet but I think I dun see any aggressive ones. Maybe it's still too early to judge. But I like the atmosphere when they started playing the ice breaking game. They got so excited when they were playing Dwarf Wizard and Giant (I see full anticipations from them) and I think they had fun!

Weird enough I thought Monster game was fun but when they played that game they looked impatient and tired. Maybe they had too much running in the previous game and it's hot and stuffy there. Summore the food had reached when the game started. Maybe they just felt like eating dinner.

All in all I guess I lifted the spirit gua. That's the main point of the ice breaking game. And the other points of the ice breaking game are: to get them know each other (at least the names), to get sweaty and hence more open and high (aka lift their spirit), to remove the awkwardness of having body contact with their new friends (coz IW will need lots of body contacts and trust)

Then I met Maexi! Someone whom I haven't met since last IW, or was it last last IW? I missed her soo much! Often think of her whenever I go for Raleigh activities. All these while I thought she went over to Aus for studies. Coz saw her FB during June or July saying she's in Aus. Then just now she told me she had been here working, in the same company tim... =.= Such a huge misunderstanding. lol...

Got to talk to the Raleighians and laugh with them, most of the time laughed at BJ (hehe). Met some who goes "Ah.. I've seen you but may I know what's your name?".

I got so nostalgic when I was there. Made me miss the June IW 08 and 09. Today is like a family reunion!

But many didn't turn up la. I didn't see Lali (in UK now), Jia Yaw (not free on this weekend), Adrian, Alan, Li, Kelvin. And Shih Chung and Xin Tong are definitely not here. Miss them lo. If all of them turn up I think there will be more fun!

Sunday I'm gonna see them again. I'm gonna go Gombak without getting myself lost to get the food and send it to IYC again. And I have to bring Poh Ee's projector and laptop there too. Hope they have fun in the jungle and a safe one. =)

Very busy weekend

The weekend was full of schedules.

Friday:
Morning - Go find Zhuang. We went to shopping at Pavillion! Had lotsa fun!

Night - Had dinner with Woan Ying and Audrey at Pappa Rich, Sunway Pyramid. And then we went to drink herbal tea at Gong Wo Tong. Had fun too! Received CP's birthday present from WY. It's cap again. lol. This year I've received 2 caps plus my previously own cap, it's 3 now. I seldom wear cap one.. Hope I can find some reasons to wear cap one day. lol.

Saturday:
Morning - Early morning around 7am woke up. I thought my alarm clock was kidding me waking me up so early on Saturday (i.e. 6.45am). Then only I suddenly remembered I promised Dennis to fetch Raleighians to campsite from IYC. I had to reach IYC at 8am. Luckily it was not very late yet. I drove pass the roundabout to IYC, U-turn back, called Marble for direction 3 times but he cut off my call. I was damn panic that time coz I seriously dun remember how to go IYC already. Then gave up calling Marble, called Vincent instead. He gave me the direction but I thought I overdrove again so I took a U-turn. Then later he pointed out that actually at the U-turn there it's the turn to IYC. =.=" I so wanna kill myself. So I look for another U-turn to turn back, mana tau I took the wrong turn and got myself into the residential area of Taman Cannaught. I started crying. Sobbed for 5 minutes while driving coz I was totally lost. I didn't know where I was. I called Marble again thinking his house is sorta near this area maybe he know the residential area. Mana tau when he answered the first thing he said was "SHIT! I forgot about the camp! Bye" So I called Vincent again but I couldn't tell him where I was. Then dunno how I turned back to Kesas and saw the familiar burial place beside the Kesas Highway. Thanks god! And I found the roundabout later. Following Vincent's direction I finally managed to reach IYC (before Marble... lol). Thanks to Vincent so much!

Whoa. My got-lost-in-Cheras story so long one.

So, I fetched them to the campsite, got to claim RM20 from Dennis for the petrol cover. And had fun helping them carrying things to the campsite (coz they were lacking man power), setting up the tent and helped Dennis take water with jerry can from the stream nearby. Awww I miss jungle so much! And I miss Raleigh moments so much! Miss being in a team. And I'm definitely regretting for not joining the long drop digging... I've never dug one before... But coz I'll be too late for Mei's tuition already and summore I've promised mum not to get into jungle during rainy season. Since I had already entered the campsite which sort of broken my promise, I felt bad and dragged myself away from the campsite after a small discussion with the Raleighians. I left around 10 something.

Afternoon - When I was back it was 12. I was damn tired. Tired actually from the non-stop walking on Friday with Zhuang in Pavillion plus carrying heavy stuff to campsite from that morning. Didn't opt for shower. =P Slept for an hour then went to give tuition to Mei. Taught tuition for 3 hours! It was already 6pm. Then after that Mei showed me a lot of Korean MVs and I watched with sleepy eyes. lol.

Night - After urging Mei to finish them up, I went to Pyramid to buy Yenny's present (coz just got request from Toh Theng to buy her present when I was at the campsite I guess). It was about 9 when I reached Pyramid. When I'm done buying the bag I straight away headed to pay the parking ticket. But I was too tired I didn't notice the note on it saying "This machine only accept RM1 notes". I fed it with RM10! My RM7 was gone! I thought it's the machine failure, so I walked all the way to the carpark helpdesk to claim back my RM7. They told me actually that machine only accepts RM1 notes. Luckily they were willing to pay me back the RM7. Thank goodness! When I'm back I feel like dying already.

Sunday:
Morning - Woke up with aching hand muscles due to carrying the things to campsite (too long never exercise that's why so lousy...) Fetch Audrey to Monash at 7.40am. Then came back and got myself prepared for Bak Kut Teh breakfast in Klang with Yenny and Toh Theng. Had breakfast until 9 something and went to Taman Pertanian (Botanical Garden) in Shah Alam. We were lucky. Before we headed for the Taman it was raining, but when we got down the car the rain stopped. We reached there at around 10am. We took the free bus to tour around the Taman. We visited the paint ball place, fed some Tilapia fish and got to touched them with my fingers and them biting my fingers, took some pictures...

Afternoon: And then we went for sky trek! We joined Yenny's cousin and friends which made 15 of us. The game was damn fun! Flying fox looked so scary to me last time but now I think it's the easiest obstacle of all. Coz it totally need no energy. It was no longer scary now coz I know that the carabiners and the harness were very reliable. Climbing the stairs to a platform on the tree was the hardest. My hand ache when I was not even halfway climbing up. And second hardest was walking on hanging poles. The poles keep swining left and right making it hard for me to step on them. Although I had already secured myself to the rope above me and summore with the harness safely wrapped around my butt, I still feel scared. What if I lost grip on the poles and I was hung by the harness and I can't pull myself up to continue with the journey? Oh, I'm just being negative. Coz actually I can pull myself up one. The strings would help.

Before the trek I put my handphone in So's locker. But during the trek she left earlier coz she had to bring her niece and nephews to tuition. So my handphone is with her now. Tomorrow only can get back from her. I feel so weird without my handphone by my side. And when my handphone is not with me only I feel it's so important.

One more thing I lost during the trek was my buddha bracelet. It broke off when I was walking along a net obstacle. The bracelet brushed against the net and broke off. Have to get myself another one soon. I feel weird not wearing a buddha bracelet on my wrist now. Maybe I'm too used to wearing it already.

Since my hand memang already aching this early morning, the sky trek didn't add any pain to it anymore. lol...

Oh I love sky trek! Wanna go for more challenging one next time. =)

P/S: Sorry. Pictures I took were in my handphone and it's not with me now. I'll upload them as soon as I have my handphone back. Then some of the pictures of me doing the sky trek were with Yenny. Will put it up when Yenny shares on Facebook.

Broga with Charlieans buddies

Went to Broga for a farewell to Yumin coz she was leaving to UK on Wednesday.

Finally we had our Broga trek. Sorry for keep canceling it. =P We had the plan like few weeks ago. But too hard to find a mutual time where all of us are free. So until the last minute, the day before Yumin's departure, we decided to just go for it no matter how many people can make it. =)

We met at the Mines at 6.15am. Reached Broga at 6.30am. Started to trek at about 6.40am. By that time the sky was already brighter.

Broga is very famous for its scenery. When we reached the first peak, the peak was so packed with people you would think there's no more space for you to stand.

That's the first peak taken from second peak. Can you see the first peak was so freaking full of people?!

Some brought their kids (around 3-4 years old) who climbed with both hands and legs.

Some even brought their dogs to trek along.

So what is Broga so famous about?

Let the photos tell you the answer.

Dawn breaking

Lonely tree on the green slope. Look like one of those scenes in disney animations. And the sentence should start with "Once a upon a time..." and the scene moves towards the tree and beyond it. lol.... Think too much already.

The peak of neighbour hill peeking from the layers of mist

The sun appeared

The dominant plantation of the hill - lalang

A piece of cloud flew off the layer

We were in heaven looking down the Earth

Layers of mountains

Now you know why Broga is so crowded every weekend. Lots of photographers go there to take photos of the scenery.

Here's some photos of us:

I was astonished by the the sunrise

Me and Yumin

Me, Yumin and Elaine

Me, Yumin, Elaine and Adam

Me, Yumin, Adam, Elaine's bro and Elaine's bf (at the back).

Everyone. Taken by Kian Yong whom I bumped into at Broga second peak. lol.. So ngam one.

I took a picture with Kian Yong too. So ngam of course have to take a picture la.. lol. The background look so nice. As if I'm at KK. =P

And my favourite thing to do when I reached the peak the end point - relax and enjoy the serenity. =)

Had great time with the Charlieans. With lesser and lesser Charlieans left in Malaysia I think the fun will be lesser already. Miss the time when we were loud and crazy. I sound like an old lady. hehe..

Nuang. Checked.

I conquered Nuang yesterday!

Enjoyed the trek very much because the last part of the trekking trail after Puncak Pengasih is very challenging, some parts have to use hands to climb up the roots. I like! But I dun like the very demoralising trail before Kem Lolo. It looks like a highway to me. You know driving on a highway can be very demoralising and boring right? Imagine walking on that highway for more than 1 hour.. Deflated...

Reached the peak in 5 hours and 25 mins. Used another 5 hours to go down.

The entrance

Starting part of the highway. The plantations already look very different. Those are pine trees I think.

We did not many river crossing there. 2 or 3 I dun remember already. The rivers in Nuang is just so-so. Nothing special to talk about. But according to CK the water is safe to be consumed.

Taking a rest near Kem Pacat

I always caught eating when trekking. lol

It's just normal trekking after Kem Pacat to Puncak Pengasih with a bit of mud

Me have nice pose here =P

Taken from a tree with a hole at the tree trunk. =P

Yesterday the weather at Nuang was very good. Puncak Pengasih is very cooling. Feel like Genting. From time to time we saw a group of mist flying towards us with a gust of wind.

This reminds me of Gunung Irau. Actually from Puncak Pengasih onwards until the peak, it looks exactly like Irau already. Except that Irau is more mossy. The trees and rocks in Irau has more green moss than Nuang.

Yea Irau is more mossy indeed (click for larger view)

I dunno what this signboard is talking about coz it's too old and half of the planks were torn off. I guess it says this is the trail to the summit? So in order to ensure our friends know which way to go, CK put a note at Pengasih.

It actually took us more than 30 mins to the peak coz we rested a lot! =P

When I reached there CK they all had already reached the peak. I reached slightly later.

We were greeted by a very fat squirrel. It's the fattest squirrel I've ever seen. Maybe it's due to the weather or the leftover food by trekkers, or maybe both? =P

Took a group photo at the peak

Actually you can see Genting from Nuang peak. But yesterday was too misty. Genting was covered in mist. Yea. The misty part is Genting. lol...

After scenery viewing I continued my sleep coz woke up too early yesterday. I woke up at 5am =(

CK also sleeping. heheh..

The rest chit-chatting

After a while, we were surprised by an uncle who looks like he's in his 50s landing his feet at the peak with a wave of hand and friendly greetings. Hikers are friendly I must admit. Erhem. I'm a hiker too. Kaka.. We tend to greet each other, ask one another about the trek and give each other encouragements.

The ladies one in her 30s and one in 40s are also very sporting.

They reach the peak in 3 hours plus!! o.O It was fast! They look very professional and experienced though. Actually I hope to be like them in 20 years time. lol..

Going down the mountain is tiring also. Luckily we had a fun dip in the ice cold tiny and shallow pool near Kem Lolo (I think it's Kem Lolo if not mistaken, I think it's not Kem Pacat). At least the water soothed our sore feet and gave a boost to our mental.

The guys splashing each other

The girls getting ready to get into the pool

After lots of splashings and waterfall back-massaging and some photo sessions (photos playing water is yet to be collected) we continued our trek. Here it is folks! The photos of water-splashings.. lol..

Group photos in the pool

The girls (one guy buat kacau at the back) but the guys were splashing water. Couldn't open my eyes when taking this photo

Girls photo with no water splashing

We, the girls, revenged kau kau to the guys. kekeke..

Okla.. Let you take one nice photo la.

After that started to splash like there's no tomorrow. lol..

After the waterfall, when we started to trek back, that's the part where my feet start to feel even more painful. The Kampung Adidas cut my ankle! Damn painful one. And putting two layers of plasters still cannot prevent the shoe from scraping my ankle. I had to limp until the exit throughout the 2 hours trek. =( That was where I feel the 'highway' was really long and deadly. Summore the scenery beside the highway looked all the same to me. Boring... Me and Angie were the last coz both of us wore Kampung Adidas. lol.. She even wore it without socks! Salute her lah... (Note for myself to next Nuang trek if there's any: wear two layers of socks)

When we saw the exit I almost cried out of joy. When we walked out I found that the very pro uncles and the ladies were already washing their shoes and chilling at their van. Goodness gracious! They are really fast! @.@ We went for a shower at the public toilet and off to our dinner at a Malay Kampung near Gabai.

The restaurant was well-known for its ikan bakar. When we reached there the restaurant was already full house coz it was 7.30pm, baru buka puasa. Sorry folks... if we walked faster and shower faster maybe we can reach the restaurant before buka puasa. We waited until around 9pm only started to have our dinner. So cham.

Despite the slow service, insufficient cups and jugs, the restaurant is actually quite special la. The seatings are in a small hut on a lake. There are bridges connecting to the hut for people to walk from the land to the hut. The idea was cool but their desk was very old and dirty, some huts have no light... the customers have to use torchlights to have their meals =.='' And they place the tap water above the lake beside the bridge. So when you wash your hands the dirty water run down the lake. And when cleaning up the tables, the crews just throw all the remaining drinks into the lake. Some kids who were eating there throw fish bones into the lake wishing to feed the fish.. Eeww. I can imagine how dirty the lake is. Anyway, the idea of lake hut is still very romantic if it's designed and maintained properly.

No pictures taken at the restaurants coz everyone was tired already. =P

Reached home at 11pm and K.O. right after shower. Woke up with a very sore leg this morning. I believe this pain will follow me for another 2 days especially walking down the stairs. But hey! I've been to Nuang already! =) I have no regrets pal, no regrets.
