Of updates, Connie Talbot and poll

Had this conversation with Get Pei today:

Get Pei: Do you know Connie Talbot?
Me: You mean Colbie Calliat?
Get Pei: No. Connie Talbot. She's only 6. And she's very good in singing. Go search her name in Youtube.

And then I went to check in Youtube.

I was amazed. Really amazed. Not only by her singing skills but also her courage to stand in front of hundreds to sing. And better still, she has the gut to sing in front of Simon. I don't. My voice sucks. lol.

Here's some of the clips of her singing. I only choose live performance because that will show her real ability.

The first clip I put is "Over the rainbow" she sang in Britains Got Talent finals. Her voice was a bit shaky. But I think it's because she's nervous in front of Simon. Because her voice in the second clip I put here was not shaky.

And the "I'll always love you" in the 3rd clip I put is of all the best I heard from her live performance. She sounds so unlike a 7 year-old girl!

If you're interested just take a look at these clips. She's amazing!

I had two job offers last week. One is Ministry of Health clinical research assistant position, another one is research associate in a commercial Biotech company.

I turned down the Ministry of Health job very politely. I even googled on "how to reject job offer" so that I won't sound too rude to the HR people. I rejected this nice job because I don't really like the job scope, having to run here and there from hospitals to hospitals and mostly dealing with paper works. This job prospect is good coz one will have the chance to work in MNC pharmaceutical company when one has experience in that field. Those in Biotech field can actually consider going into this field after graduate actually. They don't need an honours for the job. Just a degree will do.

Some might wonder why I rejected such a nice job. It's because I still prefer lab works. That's why I choose the lab work job instead.

After accepted the job offer I suddenly got 2 more calls for interviews and one more informal suggestion for application in the company. One of the calls was from NUS Singapore. I really like the research project. I really put my heart into writing the research interest for the job application. Read a lot of journals in order to write the research interest. This is my first masterpiece which I'm very proud of after my assignments and reports back in Monash time.

But I'll still stick to the job offer I accepted la due to many reasons which I can't even explain to myself. lol. Maybe because there are many reasons that starting to root me to Malaysia, more specifically Selangor.

I think the reasons are mainly
(1) Heng coming back KL soon for holiday
(2) My 3 kids (one new kid joined the rest last week) who are going to sit for SPM this year
(3) My promise to the employer and my boss. I'm not going to break promise. I don't break promises.
(4) The possibility of teaching swimming to earn extra cash after I get my Bronze Medallion cert
(5) Hill climbings (Singapore got hills to climb? Hmm... )
(6) I'm curious about how an industrial laboratory works.

So, yeah. Will wrap up the project that I'm having now and start a new job soon. =) Can't wait to see how an industrial lab works. =D

I had just put up a poll from Nuffnang. Hehe. Just for fun so that I can know more about my readers and so that I know how my blog is doing.

I've notice this poll thing since it first started but I dunno what questions I should put in my poll. So I didn't start a poll. I got the idea for the poll questions from Nicole's and Ice Angel's blogs. Hehe. So copy here and there from theirs.

So please answer the poll yea. Thanks =)

Robbery cases in KL

Recently heard from Jaa Yen that her friend got robbed in petrol station when filling air for the motorcycle tyre at around 1am by a gang of motorists. Then after that heard that few friends of friends got robbed in petrol station, also by a gang of motorists.

When I'm driving to work today I heard this similar incident happened to the My Fm DJ (Lam Tuck Weng) just this morning around 5am, also in petrol station when he's filling petrol, also by a gang of motorists. He was lucky when he heard motor sounds from far he abandoned his car with doors open wide, ran to the petrol station convie shop. Luckily the petrol station worker in the shop was fast enough to open the door for him to get in and hide from the gang. The motorist gang ruffle his car and found nothing and went away.

Lam said another motorist was unlucky. He was hit by the robbers and robbed. And another couple in a car also got robbed. All these only happened within 10 minutes according to Lam. And according to Lam, his friend got robbed when having dinner beside the road. This is sooo crazy.

So, in conclusion, do not go petrol station during night-time and do not eat dinner at the roadside. Wanna eat also eat inside the shop. Better still eat at home or in shopping malls.

Random updates with pictures =)

Last week we went to eat steamboat in Yuan. The one opposite Sunway Pyramid. Because our Steven boss was here in Malaysia! For a week for company meetings. Now he's back in Indon already I think.

I like this picture especially after photoshopped. =)

3 group pictures in a row taken by Vincent. Poor Vincent. hehe...

That day the main character is Steven. Coz he few months only come here once. Steven is a funny and straight-forward person.

Here's one short story to show how funny Steven is.

Yuan always has this grilled chicken wing which is very very yummy. They serve the wings every 15 minutes starting 8pm (or 8.30pm? Around that la). Normally everyone in the restaurant will rush to the stall and grab whatever they can get. Within seconds the wings would be all gone.

All of us were very paiseh to be so unglam go there and rebut wings ma. So Steven volunteered to rebut. He don't understand why we so paiseh. Just go grab it before it's gone la. I'm very kiasu one and I don't see any problem with it, he said. lol. Funny guy. Can't imagine he's a manager. =P Maybe every manager has this kind of kiasu character. hehe...

I think this shop has the best steamboat food of all the steamboat shops I tried. Best in the terms of variety and freshness. Alamak.. Forgot to take the picture of the long stall to put food one. The stall very very big lo..

The stall is right behind us in the pictures. Summore this is only part of the stall. Not the whole stall.

The day before steamboat, I had TGI Friday with KS. Long time never eat TGI liao. Miss the steak. Hehe..

I ordered a set where the steak comes with a side dish and a desert. Because the steak itself is RM49.90 but when it's in the set the whole set is only RM30+. Of course choose the cheaper one la. But that day KS treat me. Muahaha. But I damn paiseh lo..

Medium well. It was a bit over-cooked. I should have order medium instead of medium-well. Sigh.. I still miss the juicy steak in Marche in The Curve last year. When the knife sliced the steak, the blood flowed out. Although it sounds gross but the texture of the steak was very nice lo. Soft soft one. Miss Marche already. But this TGI steak was okay la.

Sotongs. Dun like them fried. I still prefer the sambal sotong when I went to FRIM walk... Yum!

Dessert. The biscuit very hard. Dun like also. lol..

Yesterday was Mother's day. After went to get SYBR Green from Jong Hang, me and Audrey went to Taman Megah food court to have dinner.

Mum said I should eat good food on Mother's day. Mum said Mother's day is a day for future mother also. My mum very cute la...

Good food as in healthy food. So I ordered orange juice lo. hehe.. Healthy le..

Kampar mee and orange juice

I like this photo too. Sometimes I'm so proud of my handphone when it can take nice pictures in daytime.

Before the dinner we had lunch at Asia Cafe. Took this picture when I found that the parrots are very colourful. Din realise this until yesterday coz we always go there at night. Can't see the colour at night.

After I took this picture another parrot came to drink water and the beak unintentionally splash some of the water onto my face. Eeeww.

Gonna end this post with a piece of photoshop work of mine

Title: Heay in love

Of course in love with Heng la. With who else wor. lol...

Get Pei's going to bomb me again. haha.

In love with Jason Mraz..

I'm in love with Jason Mraz!

The one who sings I'm yours. I have the MV in my previous post. All his songs are played with acoustic guitar! I had the love for acoustic guitar music for very long last time since I was 16. Then it faded because I learned for a while and then I was lazy to practice. =P But now listening back acoustic guitar makes the interest flames back. lol. I'll korek back those acoustic guitar music from my PC one day.

Ok. Back to the songs by Jason Mraz. The songs! My goodness they are so nicely composed. And the songs are mostly soothing and relaxing. I really like the style.

This is the Jason Mraz I'm talking about. This song is called Make it mine.

This song is called "Life is Wonderful"

See his guitar skills. Listen to his voice! Like smooth-flowing river. His songs are nicely composed so that it's relaxing and soothing. My goodness. The songs really fit my taste la. lol.

Sigh. Too bad all his tours only in European countries. =(

Happy mother's day

It's Mother's Day! Happy mother's day to all mums in the world. Imagine the pain it takes to push us out from their wombs and the sleepless nights when we cried the whole house away for various reasons. And the mess everywhere in the house that she had to clean. And then when we were bigger, the effort she made to force us eat more vegetables. Tehehe.

Here's some thank you note for my mum (she reads my blog).

Mama,

Thank you for being there with a cane helping me revise schoolwork when I was 7 years old when all I cared about was the Nintendo games and TV programmes. I remember I don't even appreciate what you did. Now only know if you didn't guide me my English might be even worse. keke.

Thank you for teaching me how to swim breaststroke when I was 12. Thank you for letting me to give a hand when you were baking or making mooncake. Thanks for telling me your interesting childhood stories when you trekked into jungle with your siblings and not to forget the snake, the waterfalls and the Gunung Ledang. I think my interests in swimming, baking and hiking are all arise of your sharing.

Thank you for lending me a shoulder to cry on when I faced some 'politics' in school when I was 15. That's when we gets closer and eventually become best friends. =) And being my best friend, thanks for listening to my problems and thanks for giving rational advices because imagine having a mum as best friend she will start scolding or nagging which part you did wrong, why you din do this, why you din do that. But you're not like this. Not always. Keke. And sometimes you even condemn the situation with me. hehe.

Thank you for teaching me to say I love you and allow me to say it to you without making both of us feel awkward. =) I am so lucky that I can always tell you I love you whenever I feel like it. Hehe.

Thank you for being encouraging always in everything I want to do. Thanks for always allowing me hike in the end although you are against it again and again. Thank you for being able to negotiate in everything although sometimes you don't like me hiking. (Thanks to my persistent too! hehehe) Thank you for allowing me to pursue what I want although most of the time I don't even know what I want to do in my life. Thank you for being so patient with my fickled mind in choosing my path. keke.. Thank you for not forcing me to study medical-related courses although you really hope I can study those courses.

Thanks for sharing your views about life since I was young. When I was bigger we even discuss about it together. I love the interactions. You pretty much shaped me into what I am now. And I really like what I am now (except being too careless...keke although you nag me many times about my carelessness but it just can't change). =)

Love you mum.

Love,
Heay

Oh by the way. Happy mother's day mama.
