Had been thinking of an english name for myself so that when I am to introduce myself to new people I meet, they will be able to remember my name better. Yink Heay is a rather complicated name to be pronounced and what's more, remember.
I had been joking about few 'possible' names when they coupled with my last name (my last name is Kong).
These are the examples:
1. Tom Yam Kong
2. Worshenia Kong (my dad suggested this as a joke) [meaning, I'm your grandfather--sort of an insulting sentence]
3. Asalamualai Kong (my dad suggested this too, just for laughing too)
4. Joey Kong Joey really sounds good to me. But my mum say it sounds like zou yuu kong--meaning rent aquarium in cantonese...
5. Gwen Kong (my cousin was hiding from a smile when she said this) It's obvious that it sounds like guan gong-- one of the heroes in China history... we had a good laugh after I pointed it out. lol
So, in the end, we concluded few names that are quite uncommon, simple (with 1-2 syllables) and sound decent with my last name. For example:
1. Vera--Vera Kong sounds nice but it's hard to pronounce. It should be pronounced as vei-ra. My aunt says the 'r' sound is hard to pronounce by certain people. So I dropped it.
2. Ava--Shud be pronounced as ei-va. Though the 'ei' sound hard to be pronounced still but at least there's no 'r' which is confusing.
3. Ellen--Ellen sounds like a guy name. Hehe..duwan
4. Jan--Jan sounds nice but quite hard to pronounce along with my last name. Jan Kong. Have to twist the tongue a bit from the n to k. Duwan
5. Denise--Denise sounds really graceful to me. But same problem with Jan have to twist the tongue, with the s and k sound.
So, I chose Ava Kong. Simple but not easy to pronounce though. Coz I'm sure most people will end up calling me E-va instead of Ei-Va.
I'm very contented with my new name. So, I looked up the origin and meaning of this name. The origin of Ava is uncertain. Some say it originated from Germany. But, from German origin it doesnt give any meaning. Some say Ava means bird from the Latin word "Avis".
Cool. At least I found a new English name for myself. Yea. I did say new.

No oven?
Try steaming then.
Here's the recipe. It's the most simple recipe of all the cakes I made. I can make the cake without looking at the recipe (because the triple 7--7 eggs, 7 ounces--makes it easy to remember). This recipe is from my mum. She modified from my grandmum one.
We call this cake jidan gao (means egg cake in chinese). But jidangao is claimed to be some bad words in school, I dunno why. So, I'm gonna give it another name then. Vanilla steamed cake. Sounds better?

Feeling sick now. Headache and sore throat.
Thinking back, I seldom got sick when I was in secondary school. After study in Monash I tend to get sick more often, most probably it's because I din take care of myself when I was staying away from home. I slept very late. Now I'm trying to re-adjust my bio-clock.
Hope I can recover by tomorrow because I'm having the first interview in my life the day after. I wanted to prepare for the interview. I'm going to get a nap for a while then tonight will start preparing. Wish me luck on tuesday!
I really like tat job.

Oh yea, before I went to Malacca I wanted to post this on the blog but I forgot. I made some mooncakes and zhu zai beng for Heng's family and also for some friends. Yea. You read it right. I MADE one. This is my first time making mooncake. I always wanted to learn making mooncake from my mum.

Luckily, my first batch of mooncakes din look awkward. Luckily they still looked like mooncakes. But a bit hangus la.
Hehe... Not my fault, it's the microwave.
The filling is redbean mash. I think it's very sweet but everyone say it's nice and not sweet. Hmm... Maybe my tongue is too sensitive to sweetness? Dunno.

One more thing! Snowman got a new friend now. It's Momo (meaning furry in Cantonese).

Din aspect Heng will buy me this. Din even aspect he will notice and remember I told him I like it. I was really touched.
